Brookings City Council
July 19, 2022
The Brookings City Council held a Study Session on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 5:30 PM, at the Brookings City & County Government Center Community Room with the following City Council members present: Mayor Oepke Niemeyer, Council Members Nick Wendell, Joey Collins, Holly Tilton Byrne, Wayne Avery, Brianna Doran, and Bonny Specker. City Manager Paul Briseno, City Attorney Steve Britzman, and City Clerk Bonnie Foster were also present.
Agenda. A motion was made by Council Member Tilton Byrne, seconded by Council Member Avery, that the agenda be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Niemeyer, Wendell, Collins, Tilton Byrne, Avery, Doran, and Specker.
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funding. The City Council held a discussion on the City of Brookings’ American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding allocation of $4.4 million. The City completed multiple COVID impact surveys by stakeholders, residents, and business owners to identify community needs and funding opportunities. Public Comment: Mary Beth Fishback, Ivy Center; Tim Reed, Brookings Economic Development Corporation; Rachel Busmann, Family Resource Network and Brookings Child Care Coalition; Dan McColley, Habitat for Humanity; Mike Anderson, Inter-Lakes Community Action Coalition; Carla Gatzke.
Adjourn. A motion was made by Council Member Tilton Byrne, seconded by Council Member Doran, that this meeting be adjourned at 7:51 p.m. The motion carried by a unanimous vote.
