Mayor Niemeyer and the Brookings Historic Preservation Commission would like to announce the following 2021 Mayor’s Awards:  

 

2021 Mayor’s Historic Preservation Awards

Category:  Stewardship - Residential

Awardee:  Arthur and Steve Gilley – 622 6th Avenue

Awardee:  St. Paul’s Episcopal Church – 726 6th Street

Awardee:  Gregory Vaselaar – 721 Medary Avenue

Awardee:  Gail and Rosemary Robertson – 825 6th Avenue

The Mayor's Award for Historic Preservation is a recognition program of the Brookings Historic Preservation Commission.  The Historic Preservation Award for Stewardship – Residential recognizes those who have ensured the preservation of historic properties through long-term care and maintenance, stabilization, protection, or continuous family ownership.  The Mayor and Preservation Commission encourage the citizens of Brookings to recognize and applaud individuals who seek to preserve the historic character of Brookings.

Awardee:  4A ZoNes Properties, LLC – 324 Main Avenue

Awardee:  Jack’s Entertainment, LLC – 327 Main Avenue

Awardee:  Veterans of Foreign Wars, George Dokken Post 2118 – 520 Main Avenue

It is an honor to invite the public to the Mayor’s Awards Event on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Swiftel Center, Daktronics Room, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Holiday Celebration.  The awards program is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.  The Swiftel Center is located 824 32nd Avenue in Brookings. 

 

Each of us takes pride in our city.  It gives great pleasure to recognize these extraordinary efforts!  The Mayor encourages the residents of Brookings to recognize and applaud individuals who seek to continue to make Brookings someplace special.  A place to BRING YOUR DREAMS!
