Notice of Public Hearing: BMU Wastewater Facility Improvement Project

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

FOR THE CITY OF BROOKINGS

BROOKINGS MUNICIPAL UTILITIES WASTEWATER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

Brookings Municipal Utilities (BMU) is proposing to construct improvements to its wastewater systems. The City of Brookings is seeking up to $4,000,000 on behalf of the BMU for the wastewater system improvements from the Board of Water and Natural Resources. The funds could be either grants from the State Consolidated Water Facilities Construction Program or a loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) programs. The expected CWSRF Loan terms are 2.125 percent for 30 years.  The Board of Water and Natural Resources may forgive all or a portion of the loan principal. The amount and source of funds will be determined by the Board of Water and Natural Resources when the applications are presented at a scheduled board meeting.

The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss the proposed project, the proposed financing, the source of repayment for the loans and to receive comments regarding the application from members of the community.  The meeting is open to the public and interested persons are encouraged to attend.

Notice is further given to persons with disabilities that this hearing is being held at a physically accessible place.  Assisted Listening Systems (ALS) are available upon request by contacting (605) 692-6281.  If you require additional assistance, alternative formats, and/or accessible locations consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact Susan Rotert, City Human Resources Director and ADA Coordinator at (605) 692-6281 at least three working days prior to the meeting.
