PRESS RELEASE: Armed Robbery in Brookings

On Friday, November 5th, 2021, at approximately 6 a.m. the Brookings Police Department responded to an armed robbery that occurred at 503 6th Street, Brookings (Newman’s Convenience Store). Through the course of the investigation, it was found a male suspect entered the business shortly after it opened. The suspect demanded cash from the employee. Once he received the undisclosed amount of money from the employee, he fled the store. 

The employee was not injured and the public is not believed to be at risk at this time. The suspect is described as being an unknown race male who is approximately 5’7” with a thinner build. It appeared he was wearing black faded jeans, a dark navy blue sweatshirt, camo gloves, and had an olive drab cloth covering his face.
