[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: Brookings Police Department Responds to Robbery Sunday, June 20th

On Sunday, June 20th, 2021, at approximately 10:49 p.m. the Brookings Police Department responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred at 600, 6th Street, Corner Pantry (formerly Gas ‘N Mor). Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the male suspect pointed a black handgun at the employee and demanded cash. The employee complied with the suspect’s demand and the suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot to the southeast after exiting the store. The employee was not injured and the public is not believed to be at risk at this time.

The suspect was described as being a skinny, dark complected Caucasian male, who was approximately 5’ 6” tall and was softspoken. The employee stated the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that possibly had red and white print across the chest. He was wearing a black mask and black pants.
