After 31 years of working devotedly as the city engineer for the City of Brookings, Jacqueline “Jackie” Lanning, resident of Brookings is set to retire on Friday, June 18, 2021.
Jackie joined the City of Brookings in 1990 as the assistant city engineer and was also the first female city engineer. During her time at the City, she was responsible for the Airport Master Plan Project in 2004, new City drainage ordinance in 2006, Downtown Streetscape Project in 2008/2009, 22nd Ave Reconstruction Project, project manager of the 20th St. South BUILD Project and many more. She earned a bachelor of science degree at Colorado School of Mines with a major in civil engineering and a minor in environmental science.
“It has been my distinct honor and privilege to be the third city engineer and the first female city engineer for the City of Brookings. I am extremely thankful for all of the support from the citizens of Brookings. I have gotten to know so many of the wonderful Brookings residents throughout my career. I have appreciated the cooperation of the citizens to help make the City’s construction projects a success for the betterment of our community.”
A farewell open house will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 17th at the City and County Government Building 1st floor, Suite 140. All friends, co-workers and well-wishers are welcome to attend.
