The Brookings Police Department is pleased to announce a new online reporting system which is now available to residents through the City’s website. The new Brookings Online Police Reporting system is designed to provide efficiency, convenience and also save time for the public and law enforcement.
When residents access the page at www.cityofbrookings-sd.gov/OnlinePoliceReporting, they will find several clickable options to report a crime to the department without having to call in. Incident types that can be used on the online system are:
- Auto Accident – private property with no injury
- Hit and Run – private property
- Lost Property
- Theft – value of stolen property is less than $1,000
- Theft from Vehicle – property stolen is less than $1,000
- Vandalism – damage is less than $1,000
- Vehicle Vandalism – damage is less than $1,000
Individuals are able to attach corresponding pictures to their report, and when finished, they can purchase a copy of the report filed. During the process of filing the report, the citizen will be provided with updates on what is occurring with the report, such as “an officer will be following up” or “more information is needed from the victim or reporter” status updates.
To utilize the new reporting system, residents can visit the City of Brookings website at www.cityofbrooking-sd.org, go to the government tab, scroll down to Police Department, click, and look for the “Submit Online Police Report” quick link.
