[ARCHIVED] FREE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY TRAINING – TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2015

The training on bias-diversity-respect titled, “Promoting a Respectful Workplace Through Diversity & EEO Awareness” will be presented by Maria E. Flores, Program Manager for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 1:30 – 4:30 pm at the Brookings City & County Government Center, 3rd Floor Community Room. Participants must register for free with City Clerk’s office by calling (605) 692-6281 or emailing sthornes@cityofbrookings.org.

The training will focus to:
• Broaden diversity awareness & appreciation
• Understand unconscious bias
• Promote a respectful workplace
• Recognize inappropriate workplace behavior
• Comply with federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.

Maria E. Flores began her tenure with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 1991 as the EEOC Milwaukee District Office’s first Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Investigator. She also served in a dual-capacity on the District’s “Systemic Team” where she specialized in investigating class action and systemic discrimination cases. A Program Analyst since 1999, Maria is responsible for coordinating and conducting EEO training, educational outreach, and technical assistance throughout the six Midwest states which comprise the EEOC Chicago District Office. She has a proven record as a highly-rated EEO speaker and trainer to diverse audiences on numerous employment discrimination issues.
