[ARCHIVED] AUTOMATED WEATHER OBSERVING SYSTEM (AWOS) OPERATIONAL – AIRFIELD REALIGNMENT PROJECT

The Brookings Regional Airport Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) is operational once again. The AWOS automatically measures meteorological parameters, analyzes the data and broadcasts aviation weather reports. Several weather phenomenon are observed and recorded include: the date and time of observation, wind speed and direction, temperature, dew point, barometric pressure, density altitude, visibility, cloud height and sky condition. Weather data is available online through various sources, on frequency 119.925 MHz, and by telephone at (605) 692-1809.

The system may experience the occasional outage or be inoperative from time to time as the FAA continues to work on improving the equipment.

Questions may be directed to Airport Management at (605) 697-8664.
