Project Update

The project was awarded to Bowes Construction in the fall of 2021.  Construction started in the fall of 2021 and is ongoing.  This project is being overseen by SDDOT who has hired Banner Associates Inc with HDR Engineering to assist with the construction administration.  Please see the Department of Transportation website for additional information.

Route/Detour Information

The intersection of 22nd Avenue South and 20th Street South is currently closed for construction. The intersection is expected to be reopened in the middle to end of October.  During the construction work, the intersection will be completely closed to all traffic. Please see the detour route below and follow the posted signs for the detour route.

This project is adding a new Interstate exchange at 20th St. South (214th Street). Construction will continue from 2022 into 2023.
