Christmas Kids and Cops

Every year, around Christmas time, Deputy Sergeant Pike and Police Sergeant Fishbaugher raise money for families in need in Brookings County to help them with Christmas time needs.  It is unfortunate that some families are unable to celebrate Christmas because they have no money for food and gifts.  During the school year, with the assistance of counselors and teachers, we identify families in the county and families in the city that may need help with Christmas putting food on the table and gifts under the tree.

At the time of the shopping event, officers have a dinner with the children and the children get to meet Santa. Police officers from Brookings PD and the University PD, Deputies, Troopers and Game Fish and Parks Officers help each family with shopping and getting their food.  All the presents are also gift wrapped by Wal-Mart employees and volunteers.

If you, a friend or your business would be interested in helping out, any size donations are greatly appreciated.  Your donation will give the family money for gifts and a cart full of food for Christmas dinner. Unfortunately some families just cannot afford to have Christmas dinner and have to go without Christmas presents from Santa.  This is where we step in to help.  If you choose to make a donation, please make out a check or money order to Christmas, Kids and Cops.  Cash is also accepted.  Any size donation is great.  Thank you for helping out our kids!
