Enforced Rules

The current building codes enforced by the City of Brookings are:

  • 2021 International Fire Code
  • 2021 International Mechanical Code 
  • 2015 Uniform Plumbing Code - inspected by the South Dakota Plumbing Commission
  • 2020 National Electric Code - inspected by the South Dakota Electrical Commission
  • 2021 International Building Code
  • 2021 International Residential Code
  • 2021 International Property Maintenance Code

These codes are published by the International Code Council.
